Our customers are growing fast and so are we. We are looking for an Android Engineer (Junior to Middle level) to join our team.
At Spartan, we do not work like a typical outsourcing company. We embed directly with startups backed by YC, Pear VC, a16z, Techstars and others. You will work with founders and engineers from Stanford, MIT, Google, Amazon, Uber and more to help them launch MVPs quickly and scale real products.
This role is a good fit if you are early in your Android career but already care about building modern Android apps. You will work on production features, learn from senior engineers, and see your code shipped to real users.
Many of our products use AI heavily. Around 70% of our portfolio involves LLMs, and engineers at Spartan use tools like Cursor, Claude, and Codex to work faster and learn better.

What You Will Do
- Build and maintain modern Android applications using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose
- Implement product features from design to production with guidance from senior engineers
- Work closely with US startup founders, product managers, and designers
- Contribute to MVPs that go from idea to production in a short time
- Follow a clear delivery process including PRDs, async updates, and code reviews
- Apply best practices in Compose, state management, and app architecture
- Use AI tools to reduce boilerplate and speed up development
- Gradually take ownership of features and quality
Required
- Comfortable communicating in English
- 1 to 5 years of Android development experience
- Solid knowledge of Kotlin
- Hands-on experience with Jetpack Compose for building UI
- Experience integrating REST APIs and handling JSON
- Understanding of Android lifecycle, basic threading, and state
- Eagerness to learn and improve quickly
Nice to Have
- Experience with Compose state management and navigation
- Familiarity with MVVM or Clean Architecture
- Experience with coroutines and Flow
- Exposure to Room, ViewModel, and other Jetpack libraries
- Experience publishing or maintaining apps on Google Play
- Basic testing experience
