ROLE OVERVIEW
The Film Marketing Manager is responsible for planning, developing, and executing the marketing and promotional strategy for a film (or a slate of films) from pre-production through release. This role bridges creative, strategic, and commercial functions — working closely with producers, distributors, creative agencies, and media partners to maximize awareness, audience engagement, and box-office or streaming performance.
KEY RESPONSIBITIES
Strategy & Planning
• Develop and implement comprehensive marketing plans for film releases — including target audience definition, positioning, and messaging.
• Coordinate with producers, distributors, and creative teams to align marketing goals with production timelines and release strategies.
• Manage campaign budgets, timelines, and KPIs.
• Conduct market research to identify audience insights, competitive landscape, and trends.
Creative & Campaign Development
• Oversee the creation of marketing assets such as trailers, posters, key art, behind-the-scenes content, and social campaigns.
• Collaborate with creative agencies, graphic designers, and editors to ensure brand and creative consistency.
• Guide tone, messaging, and creative concepts across all platforms.
Media, PR & Digital Marketing
• Coordinate with media planners to develop paid, owned, and earned media strategies (TV, digital, print, out-of-home, etc.).
• Manage digital marketing efforts including social media, influencer partnerships, and online advertising.
• Oversee PR strategy — press junkets, premieres, interviews, and media relations.
• Track campaign performance and report insights to leadership.
Partnerships & Distribution
• Work with distributors, exhibitors, and streaming platforms to optimize release timing and promotional visibility.
• Develop co-marketing opportunities with brands, sponsors, or other IPs.
• Support international marketing teams where applicable.
Requirements
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Film, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in film, entertainment, or media marketing.
• Proven success managing integrated marketing campaigns for films, series, or entertainment content.
• Strong understanding of digital marketing, social media, and audience engagement strategies.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
• Creative thinker with a data-driven mindset.
• Passion for film and storytelling.
• Willing to relocate.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working with major studios, streaming platforms, or film distributors.
• Familiarity with film festival marketing, premiere planning, and talent publicity.
• Proficiency with marketing analytics tools (Google Analytics, Sprinklr, Meta Ads Manager, etc.).
