Job Description
ABOUT RAMP
Ramp is building the smart infrastructure for finance teams, embedded in the transaction flow of every dollar a business spends. We automate how over $100B in annualized spend flows in and out of 50,000+ companies: authorizing payments, flagging risk, categorizing spend, and closing books.
The problems are high-stakes, data-dense, and unforgiving.
We hire people with high agency and high urgency. We look for slope over intercept. We care less about where you trained and more about what you’ve built. At Ramp, everyone is a builder who owns problems end to end and makes consequential decisions that shape the outcome.
The median Ramp customer saves 5% and grows revenue 16% in their first year – far in excess of businesses operating without Ramp. We believe every ambitious company deserves the same.
If you want to build systems that directly shape how companies move and manage billions, Ramp is the place to do it.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Ramp's Forward Deployed Engineering https://engineering.ramp.com/post/forward-deployed-engineering (FDE) team helps Ramp win upmarket and in our biggest new verticals. Since fall 2024, FDE has grown from 2 to 25+ engineers operating across the enterprise customer lifecycle. Nearly half are former founders. We ship fast, work directly with customers, and build solutions that generalize across the enterprise.
We're looking for the COO of FDE — an AI-native operator and strategic partner who will design and run the operating system for FDE. Own the systems, processes, and information architecture that let this team scale its impact without scaling headcount. Build agent-powered workflows end to end, drive operational rigor across teams, and deliver significant business outcomes tied to revenue and customer activation. Over time, you'll grow into a key voice in where FDE invests — working with strategic finance, product, and sales leadership to shape the team's roadmap and priorities. You'll work across the entire FDE org alongside Solutions, GTM, Product, and Product Ops.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Design and run agent-powered operations. Build agent-driven workflows for triage, SOW generation, and scoping so engineers spend time building, not answering questions. Every solved problem should mean the next customer with that problem doesn't need an engineer.
Own information architecture. Design how customer and product context flows through our systems so AI and humans access the right information at the right time. Drive a unified customer hub with prioritized feature requests, SOW status, and engagement history.
Build and scale processes. Standardize SOWs end to end. Create playbooks for scoping, handoffs, and post-launch ownership that actually get adopted. You're not writing docs; you're changing how the team works.
Operate across the business. Close operational gaps across FDE, Solutions, Product, GTM, and Premier Support. Unify project trackers, intake systems, and roadmaps into a single source of truth. Partner with Product Ops to bring best practices into FDE.
Drive business impact and strategy. Own FDE's contribution to revenue and customer activation timelines. Use data to find bottlenecks, measure improvements, and prioritize the highest-leverage work. Surface patterns from enterprise engagements to inform where FDE and product should invest next.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
-
Demonstrated AI fluency and results — you've used AI/agent tools to ship real outcomes, not just experiment. You can point to workflows you built or processes you automated with AI.
-
3+ years in a high-ownership operator role — consulting, startup ops, chief of staff, product ops, business ops. The common thread: you've built and run systems that made an organization meaningfully more effective.
-
Systems thinking and technical fluency — you turn messy, ad hoc processes into structured, repeatable systems. You understand APIs, databases, and data flows at a conceptual level. You don't need to write code, but you can't treat the product as a black box.
-
Operational rigor — you don't just design processes; you drive adoption, enforce accountability, and iterate until they stick across multiple teams.
-
Exceptional communication and ownership — you hold your own in rooms with engineers, PMs, and sales leaders. You've created outcomes by the force of your own initiative, not just executed on work handed to you.
NICE TO HAVE
-
Experience in enterprise SaaS and high-growth startups
-
Computer Science degree / background
-
Background building or deploying AI agents / LLM-powered workflows in production
BENEFITS (FOR U.S.-BASED FULL-TIME EMPLOYEES)
-
100% medical, dental & vision insurance coverage for you
-
Partially covered for your dependents
-

-
-

-
Flexible PTO
-
Fertility HRA (up to $10,000 per year)
-
Parental Leave
-
Unlimited AI token usage
-
Pet insurance
-
Centralized home-office equipment ordering for all employees
-
Health and Wellness stipend
-
In-office perks: lunch, snacks, drinks, and more
-
Budget for intra-office travel
-
Relocation support to NYC or SF (as needed)
